What’s To Come

Hello once again, my friends! Here’s the Updates post I promised you in this Monday’s Weekly Thoughts post. In this post, I’m mostly going to talk about what’s to come in the near future, what bigger projects I have going in the background, and what I’m working on at the moment.

Arriving Soon!

I have some more short stories I’ve already written that I think I will post on here. I say “think” because I’m still debating on if I want to save them for something bigger. Mostly that goes for one of the stories that is a part of a bigger collection I’m working on, but we’ll talk more about that in a later section. Anyway, I’m still most likely going to post it because, in the end, the story can exist both here on the site and in a standalone collection.

I also think I will post a couple of poems that I had initially written about past loves in an attempt to reclaim those feelings for myself. Like, some of those fuckers really did not deserve a poem written about them, but I digress. Point is, you can expect some poems soon. Poems that are no longer about anyone.

I Smell an Essay Coming…

Now that’s where you’re mistaken! There are TWO! Count ’em: TWO essays on the horizon! I mentioned this in last week’s newsletter, but I’m currently working on a couple of essays. The one that’ll probably come out first is about magic/witchcraft, religion, science, and the intersections between them. I’m currently in the research stage for that one; I’ve ordered some secondhand books about the topic, and I have my highlighter and sticky tabs ready to annotate!

The essay that will come sometime after that one will be about how rest, joy, and love are acts of resistance and revolution. This one feels very relevant to our current political climate where we’re being bombarded with terrible news multiple times a day. Part of me feels like I should write this essay first because it feels so necessary, but I’m only one woman. I’m literally just a girl, and I can only order so many secondhand books at a time. But mark my words, the essay WILL be written!

Big Things in the Works!

Alright, here’s the thing. Like many writers, I have several novels currently in the works. Are any of them close to being finished? …Maybe mind your business, and don’t ask such personal questions. I mean, jeez, we just met. By which I mean no, they’re not. I won’t say too much about them simply because of how rough the current drafts are, but I currently am working on three novel ideas. One of which, the roughest one, I’m extra excited about, and I may or may not have a related Art post I’m about to make about it… stay tuned for that.

Also, as I mentioned before, I’m working on a collection of short stories and poems! This one may end up being too long to consider a chapbook, so I’m not sure what I’ll categorize it as. Just know that it’s a collection where each entry is based on one of the major arcana in a tarot deck. So, for example, if I happen to post a short story soon titled something like, I don’t know, 0: The Fool, you know why.
